Celebrating neighbourhood trees

About the leafy locals
Neighbourhood trees often go unnoticed. Quietly cleaning the air we breath, storing carbon, offering wildlife corridors and sprouting precious greenery that does wonders for our mental health. Look a little closer at your neighbourhood trees and you'll start to notice each one for the beautifully unique structure that it is. Each the result of a distinct combination of ecological interactions at play amongst the hustle and bustle of our busy urban streets; interactions that create a dazzling array of twisted branches, gnarled bark and giant trunks that many urban species call home.
Many urban trees can be considered ancient giants and have seen enormous change as our towns and cities have developed. These are real pieces of living history - a part of our heritage - but are often at risk from development & human activity.

This website is a way of celebrating my own neighbourhood trees and hopefully sharing yours too. I'm a climber & nature enthusiast that often notices the uniqueness of each tree by thinking about how I can clamber up it! There are so many ways we can appreciate and enjoy trees & ultimately I'd love to explore the different ways people connect with their own leafy locals. I hope to share the stories we don't hear every day and to inspire you to look at your urban forest in a different light. I hope you'll start to notice the unnoticed, and to get out, look out and stand up for your leafy locals!
